With CardDuo, Pay Center offers you a combination of a bank account and two cards (virtual credit card and giro card). The bank account comes with a German account number. It is an online account and you can easily register for it on the bank’s homepage. There is a green button saying Girokonto eröffnen. You can then choose whether you want to open up a private account or a business account. The registration process takes only a few minutes and there is no need to visit a branch. Also, the homepage is available in German and English. CardDuo works on prepaid basis, you can only spend what’s on your account.

The CardDuo account is an account on prepaid basis. You can charge your account using either cash or bank transfer. Activating your account costs 36€, there is also a monthly fee of 8.99€. With your CardDuo account, you will receive two cards. The CardDuo card can be used like any EC card in Germany. Contactless payment is possible and you can also withdraw cash at any giro card point of acceptance. This card can be used within Germany and any European country. In addition to that, you will receive a virtual CardDuo credit card. You can use this credit card to pay for your online shopping, if the stores you shop at accept JCB credit cards. JCB is a Japanese credit card company which is very popular in Asian countries. The JCB CardDuo might therefore be a great choice for people who travel Asia a lot, be it for business or for holidays. You can administer your account and both cards online.

Although you can charge your giro card for free, there are some costs when using the JCB CardDuo. Only 15 transfers per month are for free, each further transfer costs money. Each additional debit withdrawal costs 0.60€. Cash withdrawal at ATMs that do not accept giro cards cost 5€. You are also not entitled to overdraft facilities when using the JCB CardDuo.
