The Hanseatic Bank offers a Visa card called GenialCard. This German credit card is a charged/revolving credit card. It is free and no annual fees are charged.
The Hanseatic Bank GenialCard is one of the few credit cards in Germany that allow you to use Apple Pay. Also, online banking is possible and after purchasing the GenialCard, you can also download the bank’s free app (Hanseatic Bank Mobile).
One of the greatest advantages of this German credit card is the flexible payment of the credit card bills. You can choose between two ways of paying the bill: either pay it in monthly rates or have the bank deduct instalments from your account.

Hanseatic Bank GenialCard VISA Credit Card
The Hanseatic Bank offers a Visa card called GenialCard. This German credit card is a charged/revolving credit card. It is free and no annual fees are charged. Registering for the Hanseatic Bank Genial Card can easily be done online. On the bank’s homepage you can find a green button saying „Jetzt online registrieren“. You just have to fill in a form, which only takes a few minutes. The form is straight forward and easy to understand. Please note that it is in German. The application form for the Genial Card can be sent via mail (postage free) or handed in online. You only have to legitimise yourself via post- or video ident. The Hanseatic Bank GenialCard will then be sent to you via mail within a few days.
To register for this German credit card, you don’t need a bank account at the Hanseatic Bank. You can keep your current account.
With the Hanseatic Bank GenialCard the annual percentage rate is 13.6% (if monthly invoice is not paid in full) .
Cash withdrawal abroad is possible at points of acceptance; however, fees might apply. Paying by card abroad might also be quite expensive, so this German credit card isn’t the best choice when you are traveling a lot.

This German credit card is a good choice when you mostly stay within Germany.
The Genial Card is also a great choice when you do a lot of online shopping and online travel bookings, as the Hanseatic Bank provides you with discounts for shops such as Zalando and Flixbus.
Disadvantages of this German credit card are that high fees apply when you use it abroad. Also, the Hanseatic Bank does not offer overseas health insurance, travel cancellation insurance, luggage or smartphone insurance to customers who purchased the Genial Card.
