This German bank account is provided by Targobank. You can easily register online for the Targobank Online Konto, which is a German checking account (also called: current account). If you visit the bank’s homepage, you will see a red button saying Jetzt beantragen. The process only takes a few minutes. After filling in the online form, you can legitimise yourself via video chat. There is no need to visit a Targobank branch in person. The account management fee is 3.95€ per month, unless your incoming salary is more than 600€ per month. Then, the account is free.
Targobank also offers a flexibel savings account and a fixed-term savings account, where you earn interest on your money every month.

Targobank’s bank account has several benefits: There is no overdraft interest rate as long as your overdraft amount is under 50€. To keep an overview over your transactions, Targobank offers a free SMS service regarding your Targobank Online Konto. Included in your account is also a free overdraft alarm (Dispo Melder) which warns you as soon as you overdraw your bank account. With this German bank account, you will also receive a free debit card that allows you to use contactless payment (up to 25€).
